| Re: Neurosensory Hearing Loss
Hello,
My daughter has a profound S/N loss in her left ear and a severe S/N loss in her right. She is 6 years old and was diagnosed at birth with hearing loss. After many tests and years of therapy, they have discovered she has Auditory Neuropathy or Auditory Dysynchrony. Your child sounds like a prime candidate for AN/AD. Your audiologist should be able to guide you to someone with experience with this diagnosis. And please DO find someone who has experience. Even though it was first detected 20 some years ago, very few professionals know what it is, how to diagnose it or how to treat it.
A couple of children ( REMOVED ) have not needed hearing aids or a cochlear implant to achieve speech. My daughter needs hearing aids and may need a CI at some point.
Feel free to write me and I'll guide you to some info on AN/AD.
Take care,
RM
