Hearing Aids Obsolete? - Hearing Disorders Message Board

I was wondering if any of you have knowledge on the new implant from Germany, called the Envoy? It's in phase 2 clinical trials here.

It is for folks like me with sensoneural hearing loss. No microphone is used just helps you to hear better by increasing the vibration to the ear. They say this could make aids obsolete. At least that is what I got from reading the material on their site.

I tried to find out from FDA site how much longer til possible approval. If anyone knows this, please respond. Also if any info on this product it would be appreciated.

HLAA (Hearing Loss Association of America) has an online forum for Envoy users. To find it, do an Internet search for "Hearing Loss Association of America forum." I'm sure the people there would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the Evoy.

FYI...When you do a search, look for the link entitled "Hearing Loss Association of America Forums - Frequently Asked ..."

Once you've selected that link, scroll to the middle of the page and click "Hearing Loss Association of America Forums"

From that point you will be brought to a page where you can register for the forum.

I found it, and I love the site not just the forum. It has already answered most of my questions and covered ground that I never even thought of before.
