I have lost my hearing in my left ear. My right ear ids just fine. I have had this problem all my life and even had surgery on it. is there any kind of new technology that could help me hear in that ear again? I want something other than a hearing aid. Maybe an implant or something. what kind of technology is out there

Hi,

It depends on what caused your hearing loss. (Otosclyrosis, nerve damage, trauma, etc).

There are implants, stapedectomy's, etc.

i dont know how i lost it. when i was a young kid my mom thought i might have a problem in that ear so she had me tested.

You might want to go to Envoy Medical website. They have a new implant that will in some cases give you back some or most of your hearing ability. Not sure if it works on total deafness. Sorry.

I still don't know when it will be available in this country. Available in Germany now.

It is a totally invisible implant. Nothing in your ear and no gear to wear like with the cochlear implant. It's something like a pacemaker implant behind the ear. It works with your outer ear to give more vibration to the inner ear. I think.They have a number that you can call on their site.

Also a few years ago there was something called the Harmonic Soundbridge that sounded promising. Don't know how that product turned out.
