Hello.

I am 19 years old. Since Sunday my left ear has been closed. Now I can hear a little out of it. It does not bother me to much it jsut scares me. I have yawned to try to get it open and everything but nothing is happening. I jsut woke up with this one day. I have never had any problems with my ears. Anyone know what it could be or what I could do to help it go away? Please help.

I'm not sure what you mean by saying your ear is closed. However, I think for any sudden decrease in hearing, you should be seen by an ear specialist as soon as possible. Do you have any other symptoms? Like ringing in the affected ear or balance problems?

Sorry for not giving enough info to you.

It does have a constant ringing sound. What it feels like to me is ear wax build up. But I don't know what to do to fix that. I don't really want to go to the doctor if I don't have to.

I don't really know how else to explain what is wrong with it.

Try some sudafed to see if that relieves the congestion at all. If that does not help then you need to see the doc to find out what it going on. It could well be ear wax or it could be something else.

Though I would recommend a doctor do the cleaning, you can buy ear wax cleaning kits over the counter (Murine comes to mind, Debrox another). They all use carbamide peroxide and take several applications and don't always clear the ear....worth a try!

NEVER try to poke out the wax- NEVER (even with Q-Tips)
Just put the drops in and keep it in for as long as you can by lying on your other side. Do it for several days and then finally rinse with lukewarm water (syringe comes with the kit). If it doesn;t work in about a week, go see a doctor, there's nothing more you can do at home.

Know also that you could very well have MIDDLE ear inflammation liquid/pus/scarring...this is strictly a doctor's purview.
