I have pulsating tinnintus only on my right ear due to ETD. I went to the doctor back in February and was told that my right ear was retracted and the noises that I was hearing was due to the ETD, he put me on Allegra D but it seemed to make the pressure and all of the popping noises worse. Well I went back to the doctor today and he said my ear is still retracted and he wanted me to use a nasal spray twice a day and see if this helps. I was just wondering if anyone else sufferes from ETD? My symptoms are constant ear pressure, I'm always opening my mouth to pop my ears, etc., etc. Also when I bend over or move my head in a certain direction I hear the pulsating noise (only in right ear) and If I push real hard to move something, etc., etc., I hear a rushing sound. It is driving me crazy!!!! Anyone have any advise?

Just replied to another topic you replied under, check out tempero mandibular joint disorder, this causes eustachian tube problems and can happen after braces are removed.

hi traciel.
The rushing noises you are hearing is your blood pumping around your ears, this is due to your ETD. I too have been put on a nasal spray called flixonase which i take two times a day I also have popping and intense presseure on my ear drum. Do you only really get intense presseure when it has popped violently and you try to sniff or breathe through your nose. Can I suggest something that i was told about to do by my consultant. Pinch your nose and close your mouth and try gingerly to push air into your ears causing it to pop, start off very gingerly and stop when it gets too uncomfortable and try to build it up until it pops do this 3 times a day apparently it's highly recommended.

Thank you so much for your reply's. I feel so much better knowing I'm not alone in this. I went back to the doctor and my right ear is still retracted so he told me to continue with the nasal spray. Bovvy - I did your technic on holding my nose and blowing and wow did it work. Thanks for the advise. I will continue to do this method.

i totally have trouble with my ears popping. Taking an
ibuprophen product helpd to reduce the inflamation and works great. I have tried other allergy med. and they have not been helpful. My IENT Dr. said Ibuprophen is safe when taked carefull as directed and with food.
