Stapedectomy vs Stapedotomy - Hearing Disorders Message Board

I've been reading the forums here and there seems to be alot of good information about stapedectomies. However, my doctor has recommended a stapedotomy. I understand the difference between the actual surgeries but am wondering about the recovery. Is recovery after a stapedotomy similar to that of a stapedectomy? Has anyone had a stepedotomy done? How did it go?

The after effects are the same. Just had a stapedotemy and the instructions the doctor gave me were the same as for the stapedectomy. I'm 6 days post op and am experiencing the same side effects as those on the board that had the other operation.
