Hi. I have been diagnosed with pulsatile tinnitus. Have posted a few times on here.

I am seeing an ENT who is also a head/neck surgeon. He did an IAC MRI on me which came back negative. I have had the tinnitus a very long time, but it has gotten alot worse last 5-7 months.

Anyway, is this the best doctor to see for this type of problem? This doctor is very reputable. He actually removed my thyroid a few years ago and I trust him very much, but I wonder if I should see another type of doctor?

i am just so frustrated that nothing was found and this noise in my ear is driving me insane. He did say he would do an MRA/MRV if things did not quiet down. I do realize most cases of tinnitus are hard to diagnose, but have read that pulsatile usually has a cause.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. MaryAnn

We have been on the same threads a while back, my dr is a surgeon also he specialises in Otolaryngology and also Neurotology. He is one of the best in Canada (if not the one!)
I would think your Dr might be able to advise a specialist for you?
I have not any tinnitus since my surgery (stapedectomy) I think I remember you had no hearing loss but just tinnitus right?

Do you have the dizziness and feeling of vomiting along with this or no?

I have tinnitus and I used to think everyone has it. Around age 30 I start having very bad noises in my ears. When some individuals talk it was unbearable to listen them. They would only cause a buzzing in my ear and I couldn't even hear them. Unfortunately I couldn't find a doctor to help me with my problem. One of the doctors diagnosed me with mild conductive hearing loss. Not sure how but the noises left me alone after a while(within a year). Along with these I used to feel like(rarely) the earth is sliding under my feet. But like I said thinks got better just by itself. Now I have other issues but oh well I am just lucky with my ears what can I say.I hope you will fell better soon.

Hi - I have no hearing loss and no vomiting but sometimes I get severe dizzy spells. They come and go. And, sometimes pain in that ear and at the base of my skull.

I just have a loud pulsing/swooshing noise in my right ear. Its almost constant now..just some days louder than others. Had a MRI IAC and they found nothing wrong. The ENT head/neck surgeon I saw felt that unless it got worse, there was nothing that could be done. He said I could have an MRA/MRV I think he called it....but I was just wondering if an ENT was the best type of doctor to be seeing me. I've read alot about pulsatile tinnitus and it seems they can usually find a reason for it. ???
