do i have permanent tinnitus? - Hearing Disorders Message Board

i have always loved my ipod and got it a year ago. i used to listen to my ipod on full for about 2-3 hours a day. 5 days a week for a year. but i never had ringing once. ive never been to a concert but i hear that your ears ring when you leave. my ears NEVER rang once when i listened to it. i also had huge over the head earphones. i hate the little earbuds. recently they broke so i got some little in ear earbuds. i listened to them on full for 3 hours a day for 10 days then they burnt out. i also had a bad cold and stuffed nose and coughing weezing etc. later that night about 4 hours after hearing even the slightest sound(exept the fan on my laptop) i was laying down and my right ear rung for half a second. it was about 900hz(the type you get after a gunshot or something. then my right ear had a 17000hz ring. after a day it went into bith my ears(keep in mind i was listening to no music at that time). my cold went away and its about 3 weeks later. the sound is still there. also my ears are sore and when wind blows past them they hurt. i went to my family docter who spent all of 3 minutes to look in my ear and say it all looks fine. he said it wasnt tinnitus. he said that after a cold and the fluid in your ears drains it will still ring for a long time. he said it shoukld be gone in a month. im woried. its not going away. its only been 4 weeks since it first rung. do i have perminent tinnitus? im 16 and dont drink smoke or anything. im a little heavy though 230lbs 6 foot 2 inch. please help!

I have heard that accidentally bumping an Ipod all the way up with ear buds can cause Tinnitus. After developing Tinnitus myself I have told several relatives and friends to be extremely careful with Ipods. Mine wasn’t caused by ear buds, but by unprotected ears and shotguns at an earlier age.

Only you will be eventually able to answer your question as to whether you will have Tinnitus forever. I have had it for almost a year. Mine is very loud, causes almost daily bad headaches, and serious sleep deprivation. I am more sensitive to loud noises than ever before.

A Neurologist / Ear-Nose-Throat specialist said that I have moderate hearing loss. He prescribed Valium, as well as the supplements Niacin and Lypoflavonoid. He said some people finally beat Tinnitus and some people have it forever. Mine hasn’t improved any at all that I can tell in eleven months.

Hey danny and newbie hope ur fine.i suffered frm tinnitus and hearing loss after a night out from clubbing.had mine for a month it was pretty depressing couldnt sleep and so forth.i was worried sick.my tinnitus only started to reduce after praying to God and Truly believing that im healed after praying.i prayed each day to the Lord for mercy and healing.i was lead to matthew 6:25-32 the key message there is about anxiety it states that u should not wory about your body and life.God knows ur troubles he wil not forsake u,the birds cry out for food and he feeds them wat about us wil we not be healed?we wil most defintly be healed. jst pray for healing and all wil be well.i also fasted for 2 days before my tinnitus reduced.i fasted with water only no food.after the fast my hearing was restored and my tinnitus reduced so profoundly i can sleep and read in a quiet room without worryin about my tinnitus.its stil there but its reducing and i knw im healed.guyz im nt trying to incite or hurt u bt this is my story.nothing is impossible for God trust in him and all wil be well.
