hi everyone.....as in the title of the post I am post op day 4. The thumping (I am assuming is my heartbeat) is driving me crazy. Is this because of the packing in my ear? If not, how long will this thumping go on? My doctor says that I will be so happy that in 6 months I will be begging her to do my other ear....but based on how I feel today, I cant see that happening any time soon. Dont get me wrong, I have had no severe complications...no nausea or no severe dizziness (just a little off balance) but I cant stand this feeling like I am underwater...or my ear is full of water...when will it all stop? UGH
I am 3 days post-op and that thumping sound you described, I have it too. It was extremely loud in the first 2 days, and today its sometimes there, sometimes faint and sometimes I can't hear it at all. For me it come and goes.
I presume its all the water and pressure of the packaging stuffed inside the ear hole that is causing us to hear it but I do reckon it will eventually dissapear since mine is no longer constant.
One thing that is still constant for me is my tinnitus (ringing in the ear) it is generally quite loud and annoying =((((.
Thanks for the advice....today is day 5 and I actually feel a lot better. The thumping has settled down to what I would describe as a pulsating noise...but I do still have the same constant ring that I had before the surgery....who know what's going to happen from here. Have my first followup on Wednesday....hopefully it will be good news.
