Question Underwater hearing

Yesterday I noticed my left ear was hearing everybody underwater. Today is both ears. Does anyone know anything about this issue?

I know that my daughters boyfriend had this and it was swimmers ear and also lots of wax build up. I would go to an ENT and find out what is wrong.
