Stape prosthetic slippage question

Hi,
I had my surgery two weeks ago and seem to be healing very well. I have only experienced mild popping and not much of that. My surgeon said to expect to hear like a "broken stereo speaker" in the upcoming weeks. So far nothing has happened. I'm not scheduled to see him again until my audiology exam in 3 months.
I'm wondering if the risk of slippage is always there or does it decrease as time goes by?? Thanks in advance.
