Post stapedactomy

Hi,
I had a revision surgery in my left ear last month. In the first week after surgery i felt improvement in my hearing. The second week i start feeling decline in hearing, very loud noise and some times ringing tones in the ear. It`s fourth week going after surgery and i am feeling great pressure in my eardrum and declined hearing.
Can any body tell me some thing about it?.

Thanks
I saw my doctor yesterday and he gave me Antibiotics. But his attitude seemed to be very discouraging( may be it was just my depression). He said that nerves are fine but hearing is less than what he noticed in the first meeting after surgery.

Re: Post stapedactomy

Hi,

Hope you are doing well. Can you give a follow up? Have things improved after the antibiotics?

I had my stapes surgery last month. My hearing seemed better at first, but the 1 month follow-up hearing test showed it wasn't as good as she thought it could be and she said I may need a revision. I'm a bit bummed out as my hearing seems to be in decline. She wants to wait a few months and then do another hearing test. I'll probably have to wait another year because I'm going to another state for a year of school.

Hope things are getting better for you.

Hi Violet...

Sorry to hear that your hearing has declined since your surgery. I can say I had the same last year and also a revision in that ear 4 months later and ended up with great hearing from that ear.. I just had my left ear done and have amazing hearing out of that ear. Don t give up....

Cindy

Hi Dear friend,
Sorry but same is my situation. I am having severe noise and amplified environmental noises too in my ear. Dr gave me booster dose of steroids and like wise an other hearing test in a couple of months.
Let see what happens next.
God bless you and keep haring any further development.
