| Failed Stapendotomy
Hello, I am 32 years old and just had a failed stapendotomy/stapendectomy. 8 weeks after the surgery I am completely deaf in my ear and when I went to see my surgeon he said that there was inner ear damage and there was nothing he could do for me. I was very sick after the surgery with vomitting and no equilibrium and when he was informed he told me to rest and did not wish to re-examine me. I thought for the past 8 weeks I could not hear because there was a cotton plug in my ear as this is what the surgeon told me the week after my surgery when I informed him I was sick and could not hear. I am angry, as I feel he did not provide me with a standard level of care that maybe could have saved my hearing even a little bit. I am also struggling to cope with the grief of this loss, including going back to work and adjusting to how much more difficult my life is. I am left reeling from this reality and do not know how to cope. Is there anyone out there that has been through an experience such as this? I would appreciate anything you could offer me. Thanks
