I had a hearing aid before my stapedectomy....I will tell you the wait will be worth it.... I loved my hearing aid being I could not really function without it.... Give yourself time to adjust as I had to...but you will be amazed at what you have missing out on... Well worth every single dollar you will pay....
I got my first pair of hearing aids last August. The technology in them now is incredible. It will be a great day when you get them.
I went my entire life without hearing out of my right ear and the old technology couldn't help. For the first time in my life, I can hear some speech in that ear!
I had some other health problems and lost some hearing in my "good" left ear. I didn't realize it for a year or two. Wow! What a difference when they put the hearing aid on that one.
Thanks. I have Central Audio Distortion which is a main cause to the hearing loss other than constant ear infections, have had ear infections for the past 26 years, just got over ear infections. Jokingly I asked my mother if there was a pill to correct that because there seems to be a pill to correct anything these days. But alas there isn't. I guess the main reason why I am so nervous is because I will forget to take them off when I'm in the shower, when it rains, when I go to the pool,or when I am near any source of water. I want the Behind the ear kind, though I have mild to moderate hearing loss, a loss is a loss and it's going down. The kind I want are the clear molds attached to the hook, it eliminates a lot of moisture and ear wax. I want the aids to either be pink, lime green, aqua, purple or zebra.
