Has anyone had a eustachian tube obliteration?
Hello guys I am new here and I was diagnosed with stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer last year and have went through all my treatments of chemo and radiation and the tumor I had caused damage on my left side and I started to have issues with fluid build up all the time and it comes and goes but when I don't have fluid in my ear I started to get autophony on my left side.
I had two surgeries with injections to fatten up the outer part of my left eustachian tube to hopefully get rid of it but its still coming back at times when I don't have fluid draining from my left ear. I have to have a ear tube cause my left eustachian tube no longer works right like its supposed to. So after two surgeries my ENT Dr said only option left to get rid of the autophony from coming back is obliterating and sealing off my left eustachian tube by cauterizing and fat injection and let it scar shut.
Has anyone had a obliteration of the eustachian tube before and what should I expect. I already have a vent tube in my ear cause of chronic fluid build up all the time and it will go away after a month or so but after about a week of it being dry it comes back and I am wondering will it get worse or pretty much be the same but without having to worry about autophony anymore. Hope someone out there can input.
