This is my first post concerning heart problems. I was doing some pre-surgical testing to get clearance for thoracic spinal surgery and I failed the chemical stress test. The nurse called Thursday afternoon and said she wanted to schedule a catheterization due to the fact that there are 2 areas of my heart that aren't receiving adequate blood supply.
Does anyone know if I were to have angioplasty, and things went well, would it be safe to go ahead with the spine surgery? I have spinal cord compression (myelopathy) at T9-10 that has been slowly progressing for almost 2 years and needs to be repaired.
I won't know how minor or serious this thing is until I get the cath, but the nurse said I need to do something right away to prevent damage to the heart muscle. I hope it is not too damaged already!!
Any thoughts, comments, or just kind words will be appreciated
