Palpitations

Hello everyone iam 23 yrs of age around 190 pounds and pretty much out of shape. Anyhow I cant afford a doctor and have no insurance whatsoever so. Iam really looking for some advice and hopefully a bit of peace of mind. About 5yrs ago I started getting regular Palpitations whats worrying me is if I exert myself at all I get them I can honestly feel my heart stop for a second and then kick back up I guess this would be considered a skipped beat. But its really annoying I usually get 3 or 4 skips and flutters after the exercise sometimes during it. I also get them when Iam not exercising but prolly once a day if that. So pretty much what should I be looking out for with this skipped beats????

Iam convinced my heart is just gonna stop on me and that I have some type of heart problem because of these. It gets really annoying having these everytime I trry to exercise at all. Iam only 23 and Iam afraid to drink Caffiene or try any sports at all. Thanks in adavance for Any responses.

Re: Palpitations

First off you absolutely must see a doctor to find out why this happens. Borrow the money but just go. They will do an EKG, and most likely an echo cardiogram. They will
also give you a 24 hour monitor to wear so they can see what kind of palpitations you
are experiencing.
The skipped beat you are feeling is most likely an extra beat. This extra beat is benign.
But please don't let it go, find out for sure and get it treated.

Re: Palpitations

Hi, it sounds to me like PVC's,but i am NOT a doctor, you need to see one pronto! you can go to the hospital to their clinics, most have programs where if you have no ins. they will take you under "charity care" for just about anything, not just an ER visit, but any clinic, please go!

Last year i was shoveling so much snow,an hour later i was on my knees with bad heart palps. & later on for two days i had PVC's.It may not be life threatening, but you need to find a dr. Good Luck Krissy

Re: Palpitations

heartfreak,

It's USUALLY nothing at all. BUT usually is not ALWAYS!

If you really can't afford a doctor try cutting caffeine to near zero....often it's a trigger for skipping beats.

Now for the ZIP cure.....go to a health food store and buy 500 milligram magnesium oxide tablets (MgO).....pretty cheap. Buy the cheapest store brand!

Take one a day and let the zipster know how well it works in about 3 days!.

Re: Palpitations

Hi a clinic is a great idea but you need to check it out. I have had heart palps since I was 23 also. I got them from being on the birth control....it messed with my body. I get paps when I am under stress or pregnant or menstrating. I dont know if your a male or female. I sometimes have gotten them when I work out...and especially when I bend down and take a deep breath in. I had them so so so bad when I was pregnant this last time. I mean you would think I would get use to it because its been about 8 years but sometimes they scare me becasue mine do not go away on there own. I have to bend down and blow out and plug my nose. I shock my heart back into rhythm. Works every time but sometimes I have to do it a few times. Good luck !
