Teenager with Atrial Premature Complexes - Heart Disorders Message Board

I am a 19 year old male that has heart pain for about 2 years. Sometimes it feels like presure, sometimes its a sharp pain that radiates through my arms. The last fews days, I have had a pain on the left side of my heart about every 20 minutes. I went to the doctor for an ECG, and it showed i have Sinus Rhythm, and Atrial Premature Complexes, The doctor made me an appointment at a Cardioologist. How severe is this problem? Is it normal? Should I be worried? The doctor sayed the pain could be caused by acid reflex, tired chest muscles, or possibly even my lungs. He said that it more than likely doesnt have anything to do with the Premature complexes, and that these are normal. But he wanted to make sure that they dont occur too often. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi cam1127, I don't really know whether is it normal. I guess it would be for your cardiologist to tell you the problem. But I do hope you get an answer! Sharp pain might be caused by agina(not sure if I spelt correctly). Take care and let me know how did your appointment with your cardiologist went.

sharp pain over the heart area is never related to the heart per se
angina is not a sharp pain - it is a visceral pain eg dull poorly localised
typically angina is a dull central pain or tightness
