friend had several bypasses a week ago and since that time they have had to shock his heart restarted (plus I think they had to go back in) b/c they say the heart isn't use to this much blood. Does that sound right?

That's a runaround story to cover the fact that something went wrong during the bypass.

Agreed with Zip--perhaps the explanation was misunderstood? I had to be zapped twice during my 1st angioplasty because my heart went into v-fib after ballooning out a 99%blocked RCA. That was caused from too little blood flow rather than too much.

Of course, the family is upset. Sometimes when people who aren't familar with medical procedures and all of this is so overwhelmingly. I think hospitals need to hire medical liasions between the staff and people in the hospital. It would release the staff from explaining every minute detail and the people would be able to ask questions and receive comprehensive answers.
