Sharp pain in chest..then I had some sort of seizure - Heart Disorders Message Board

I am a 30 y/o woman. Very active runner 20-30 mi's a week. Had just finished eating lunch the other day and while chatting with my co-workers I experienced an extremely shrap pain in my chest, followed by what was told to me - a "seizure" type episode or passing out.
I don't remember anything except the pain, and then when I "came to" after passing out.
by the time I did come out of it less then a half a minuite later, the pain was gone.
911 was called, the emergency room did tests and ruled out anything wrong from the tests they took. Today I have an appt. with my own dr. and then possibly an echocardiogram.

Can anyone tell me if they've ever experienced something like this?
I am very concerned.

I've never experienced anything like that before and I can certainly understand your concern! Please keep us posted on what your doctor says.

well, went to the dr.
I am going to be wearing a heart rate monitor for 24 hrs to check things...not quite sure exactly what happened on Tuesday though. Heart disease def. runs in the fam. on both sides. I had a 40 y/o cousin die of a freak heart attack while watching a football game on tv. He was fit and active.

I now have a murmer, which I haven't ever had before.

I will be getting an echocardiogram today - and watching my resting heart rate.
it stays a consistant 49. My dr. said that perhaps I was relaxed enough where my heart rate dropped too low.
a normal rhr is in the 70's apparently.

Has anyone ever gotten an echocardiogram...anmd what are they like?

I had an echo recently and its just an ultrasound of your chest. they rub the jelly on this probe and rub it on your chest just like they do a pregnant womans belly. its completely painless. dont worry. we are all in this together and I wish you the best of luck.

Obviously, you don't have boobs. LOL!! I have had 2 echos and one hurt and one didn't. The one the GUY did, hurt and the one the LADY did, did not. Go figure. I wouldn't say it's painful but uncomfortable when they push hard on the breastbone. Takes about 30-45 minutes in a dark room, laying on the bed in your lovely paper gown.
