After more than four months of debilitating symptoms, and drifting from doctor to doctor and test to test, I finally have a diagonis. But its not one I wanted: neurocadiogenic syncope. I still don't understand what could have brought this on, as I was healthy until I had a viral infection in April.

During the TT test I was ok until they started administering the IV. I could tell right away that something was very wrong and begged them to stop. I was sure I was passing out, but somehow I don't think I did, but my bp dropped to 57/29. It was about 85 over something when I started.

Now I don't know what I can do abou this condition, because (1) I can't take beta blockers (blood pressure and pulse are both too low), and (2) I don't tolerate most medications, such as SSRI's, which are used for this.

Has anyone had any experience with Midodrine, which my cardiologist also mentioned? If I have to try an SSRI again, is there any that are tolerated better than others? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

My bp actually went a bit higher on beta blockers to a nice normal bp, but I was told it was due to the tachycardia being treated by it, too. My cardio has me on beta blocker (and a calcium channel blocker to help w/tachy). He always reminds me to drink plenty of fluids, has mentioned Gatorade and he would like me to take salt tablets, but I just increase my salt intake.

To get more suggestions try the NDRF site's general discussion. Many ppl there have NCS.

At one point my cardio mentioned tilt training, but we haven't gone there and don't know exactly who needs it or how they do it.

Sorry, I can't be of more help. But will say I feel lots better, not well, since treatment.
