Tachycardia getting worse due to.....? - Heart Disorders Message Board

About a month and a half ago i was diagnosed with sinus tachycardia, and high liver numbers + calcium numbers. My doctor is still trying to find a cause of the sinus tachycardia. It seems like it has gotten worse lately and i'm kind of worried. Somtimes i feel like i like i have a weight on my chest, and i don't know why, then it goes away. I've gotten headaches, but they seem like they have subsided. I have had pain (Minor) in my chest and sides (both) of my rib cage. The pain isn't usually constant though, and occurs out of nowhere. I would be feeling fine, and then the pain just hits me out of nowhere. Also my heart beats really fast with minimal exertion, like going up a flight of stairs, or jogging for a short distance. This can't be from angina, because most of my blood work was fine except for mildly elavated calcium and ALT (Liver) numbers. My cardiologist said the two high numbers were not that high, only mildly elavated, and he said I shouldn't worry about them. And before my tachycardia got worse, i used to run and lift weights during the week. So far we haven't found an answer to the tachycardia. I don't smoke, and i don't drink enough to hurt myself. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

Have you been checked for mitral valve prolapse? I was diagnosed with it many years ago, had all your symptoms for years and no one knew why til I had a ultrasound. It is a minor problem, the little mitral vibrates a bit and that is what causes the palps and racing. It would behoove you to ask your Dr about having it checked out to put your mind at ease. Most of the time the Dr or Nurse can hear it through the stethescope, BUT some don't and that is why it doesn't get diagnosed. Also, some Dr think it such a minor finding they don't always tell the patient, like me when I changed Drs, my new Dr asked me about it and I never heard my old Dr mention it, I'd had it for 5 yrs and he never told me.
