Exclamation low blood/high heart?

Hi,
I am an 18 year old female- I am 95-100 pounds, 5Ft 2In. My Blood pressure is about 94/56 and my my heart rate is about 86bpm. Recently I have been becoming dizzy/lightheaded, and not just when I get up or sit down, sometimes after I walk for a minute or so (sometimes just when I cross the room) Yesterday I nearly Blacked out when I got out of the shower. My ears where ringing (so loud that I was wincing just at that,) and everything went black, except for the tunnel around whatever I looked directly at. I felt like I was about to start sobbing (really hard) and I didn't know why. Then as my vision started to clear, I saw little grey and purple blobs over everything I looked at, and I began to feel really (really) naseous, and I had to sit down(so I wouldn't fall.) Afer maybe 5 minutes my vision cleared the rest of the way, as did my hearing, and I could get up without feeling like I was going to throw up my entire stomache. Thats the first time anything that serious has ever happened, but I do always get dizzy and lightheaded, (I have also felt really weak for about a month or so) I know this is long and confusing, but I am concerned. HELP!

Re: low blood/high heart?

Hi lauryn0001, sounds like you have some serious symptoms. Have you been to the doctor and described these symptoms? Your diastolic BP is low (< 60).
Becoming dizzy and lightheaded are symptoms of low BP. Sometimes this happens because the brain does not get enough blood flow, I have read. The shower may have effected your BP, and made it go even lower. Sounds like you almost passed out. As for the purple and and grey shapes, I can only guess and say that your retina didn't receive enough blood flow through the retinal artery, during this event. They don't sound like floaters to me. "Floaters" are visual disturbances that are usually benign, or harmless. I have never read of any colors associated with them, except variations of white and/or amber, but it could be. I think that floaters are caused by microscopic specs of material within the viscous fluid of the eye. I have had transient ischemic attacks (TIA), and a light stroke, but this does not sound at all like a TIA, or stroke. To me a TIA is like a light stroke, that doesn't cause any damage. The lack of blood flow to your brain, could have caused the feeling of "doom" you had, that made you want to sob. The event could also have immediately scared you to tears.
You are very young and not overweight. It would be very rare for you to have developed heart disease, by age 18. I don't want to scare you but some congenital defects of the heart, don't show up until the latter teen years. I know very little about congenital heart disease, but I am old enough to recall more than a few instances of where young, high school athletes have had their heart defects to become apparent, while participating in sports. If I were you, I would see a doctor soon for bloodwork, and make sure they check your thyroid function. Hope you get better soon

Re: low blood/high heart?

Thanks, I really appreciate your response... I'll keep monitoring it and maybe go to the doctor if it happens again, or I don't get to feeling any better soon.

Re: low blood/high heart?

Be careful not to stay in the hot shower too long. I am no doctor, but I have read that hot water causes the blood vessels to dilate. This combined with standing can cause symptoms similar to what you described. If you begin to the feel them again, check your blood pressure and let us know what you find.

Re: low blood/high heart?

Laury,

It sounds to me like you had a classic migraine aura, even to the tunnel vision and nausea...I'm AMAZED it didn't turn into a cracking headache.
Do you HAVE frequent bad headaches?
