Is there something wrong?

Hi everyone. I have a question & I'm not sure if there is something wrong or if it is really nothing. Hoping maybe you all can give some input. First of all I am a 22 year old female. Through out the day I will get chest pain. This happens every day. Most of the time it is under my left breast toward the center but not in the middle of my chest. Sometimes it will hurt above my breast & to the far left side of my chest(more on my side than my chest). I also seem to have a fast heart rate. Usually in the high 80's. I never have shortness of breath or really any other symptoms (except for the worry) with the chest pain. I went to the doctor for this back in June because I also having what was diagnosed as panic attacks, but at the time I was sure I was having a heart attack! I wore a 24 hour holter monitor & had an echo done. All came back fine & he diagnosed it as anxiety & put me on zoloft. Now I am not having any more attacks, but I am still having the pain. Even when I don't feel anxious. I'm wondering if this could be muscular (doesn't feel like what I think of as muscle soreness) or if there really could be something going on with my heart. I appreciate any advise that anyone can give. Maybe some one has had some similar situation that turned out not to be their heart. I hope this is the case.

Re: Is there something wrong?

Hi there, I dont want to sound rude at all but high 80's is perfectly normal. 70-100 is normal. For some its lower and some higher. I average about 109 a day. What kind of chest pains do you have? sharp stabbing, burning like heart burn, or crushing pressure? Sharp stabbing is usually nothing to worry about its mostly rib/muscle pain. Pains under your left breast are usually related to your stomach. If you had an echo done and they didnt find any heart disease then I dont think you have anything to worry about. You are to young to have a clogged artery type heart attack. I dont mean to sound know it all but I went through the same thing you did and Im just telling you what I have learned. I am now on prozac for anxiety and after becoming more educated about heart attacks and my own heart I dont worry any more. Good luck.

Re: Is there something wrong?

Hi Jenn. You did not sound rude or know it all at all. You actually made me feel much better. I am having the sharp stabbing pains under my breast and sometimes some tightness in the center. I would have thought the exact opposite of what you said. I would have thought that the sharp stabbing pain was a very bad sign. So that piece of info helps tremedously. The way that I have been worrying about it lately I guess that it could all be in my head But thank you for your reply. I do feel a little better. It is nice knowing that some one else has been through something similar & that it was really nothing to worry about.

Re: Is there something wrong?

your pain could be digestive related or it could be or lung related also. sometimes sharp stabbing pains where it is a little hard to breath without the shooting poker pain ar just an aveoli releasing gunk from what we breath in, especially frequent if you are a smoker.

if its digestive related or after a meal it could be indigestion or heartburn....or ulcers in the stomach.

hope this helps.
