Car Accident, Fractured Collar Bone, Congestive Heart Failure?? Opinions needed!
Hello. My mom was in a car accident in May, 2001. She had complained of shoulder and chest pain and a week later found out that her collar bone was fractured. The doctor who saw her explained how the healing process usually takes quite a while (up to 9 months) to heal. Over time however the pain did not seem to subside. Eventually the tightness in her chest grew tighter. This was accompanied by shortness of breath, dizzy spells, confusion and other symptoms she sought to be menopause and a slow recovery. In February, 2003 the combination of symtoms demobilized her completely and she was taken to the hospital. This is when we found out that she was sufferring from congestive heart failure. Her cardiologists was not aware of the fractured collar bone. His guess was that she may have had a heart attack at some point in time and did not know.
My question is: Could there be a possible correlation between the two??
Since she has been unable to work since the car accident. Her fiance managed to get partial insurance coverage before she was admitted the hospital. She applied for SSI under the condition of heart failure and was denied. Now she is in the process of reapplying but will mention the car accident and fractured collar bone as the cause linked to heart failure and the date her disability began.
I am looking for opinions by anyone who has suffered similar injuries. Any and all advise would be highly appreciated and I thank you all for your time and God Bless..
