Hi .....wondering if someone could let me know what causes occassional racing heart. Blood pressure is usually within the normal range but for the past year have had occassions of rapid heart beat which does elevate my bp, pulse then high at 115, with no other symptoms, like shortness of breath, etc.. this usually happens in the middle of the night, preventing sleep, . Had EKG - dr said it was fine. He suggested Coreg or Propranolol, since I had taken atenolol but had too many side effects. Has anyone had good results from either of these drugs and also, can this rapid beating of my heart be of major concern. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you feel no symtoms, then that is definitly a good sign. Tacycardia is actaully a common thing amoung people. I am not an expert on this, so I cannot say whats wrong with you. I would not consider it a "major" concert. Your heart can take a rapid beating (SVT) for hours and be fine.
