iv drip problems?

Has anyone ever heard of this? My husband had open heart surgery 2 1/2 years ago for 6 major blockages. He goes for his check-ups and they always tell him everything is fine. Well he went into the hospital a few weeks ago with a severe case of pneumonia, and when they started the iv drip, it wasn't dripping right and they told him in the emergency room that that means there are blockages in his heart causing the iv to do that. Well nothing else was ever said about it, he went for his follow up appointment today with his cardiologist, and all they would tell him is that everything in fine. He never has had insurance for any of this, and we just make small payments on the medical bills, because I am the only one working, so I'm wondering if they are just ignoring a lot of things and sending him on his way. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this iv drip thing.

I've not heard of that, but maybe there is something to it. I've known some people with severe heart problems that have also had an IV and have never heard anyone else being told that. It sounds to me like the person who started the IV didn't get a good stick. Did your husband have pain at the IV site?

Re: iv drip problems?

I don't know if he had pain at the iv site. I was in North Carolina visiting my kids and grandchildren when he went in with the pneumonia (it came on him real quick) and he just told me over the phone what they had said about the blockages. I'm just afraid they aren't pursueing a lot of things because of his lack of insurance.

You can get copies of his medical records and it may say something about that. It would also be something that you could take to another doctor if you want a second opinion.
