Is This Palpitations?

Last week I started to feel what was like a fluttering in my chest that made me feel like I had to cough. When it happens my pulse skips a beat. I've felt these every once in a blue moon before, but last week it started happening every 10 to 15 heartbeats, and stayed that way for two days. On the third day I went to the doctor, and of course she didn't hear it, an ekg didn't show anything (it happened before and after they recorded.) And after a couple more days it kept decreasing and then quit happening altogether. The Doctor said she'd put me on a 24 hour monitor, but it was up to me. I don't have insurance, so I didn't do it. Does anyone have an idea as to what's going on?

Thank you!

Re: Is This Palpitations?

I had the same thing happen to me after I started taking Atenolol. Which by the way is used to treat palps. Goo figure. Anyway I told my Cardio doc and he said they (palps) are common and not to worry. yea like that will happen. I am going to ask for a 24 hr monitor which I hear is the only way to check for them. i get a fluttering in my mid chest off and on. Good luck

Re: Is This Palpitations?

Sounds exactly like what I feel. I have suddenly started having them everyday now. At first I was alarmed and saw my cardiologist. He told me not to worry about them but said he'd put me on medicine if they continued bothering me. So far i've just been living with them. I have found they are much worse when I am anxious or stressed so im trying to avoid those things.
