24 hour monitor

Now that I have this goofy thing on...it probably wont catch in PAC...that is why I am wearing it...I have this flutter in my chest/throat area...and go back tomorrow for an echo.

Can anyone tell me what they can find out from wearing this monitor and doing an echo?

Thanks in advance

Becca

I go in the morning for my holter monitor. I also feel my flutters in my chest and throat. Anyway....I think (if I am wrong, someone please correct me) that the monitor lets the dr see your heart beat for the 24 hours you are wearing it. And as far as the echo goes (I get mine done next week) its an ultrasound of the heart. the dr. looks for abnormalities and knows what everything should look like whether it looks normal or not. I hope this helps.

Re: 24 hour monitor

I had a holter monitor while I experienced chest pains from my last asthma episode.
I believe it detects irregular heart beats, skipped heart beats etc.

I cant read my doctors handwriting but it looks like he wrote:
1.Underlying rythum sinus
2.APC & PVC
3.Ectopic atrial rythum present
Dont ask me what this means but I was told my heart skipped a beat and that I was to avoid caffeine.
I was taking medication for my asthma during the time of the test which I believe can effect the heart rate, rythem etc.
