AFib meds and too low a rate?

White 60 year old male.
Several years of increasing hypertension.

One episode of Atrial Fibrillation about 15 years ago.
Then six months ago atrial fibrillation returned.
Considerable weakness, coughing, panting.

Meds:
Fourosemide (diuretic) 2x
Potassium supplement 2x
Digoxin 1x

No anticoagulants rx'd.

No Holter monitoring.
No tests for H. Pylorii.
No tests for cause of HPT such as heavy metals testing despite my history of exposure.

No insurance.

Prior to initiating the meds my oxygen saturation would be 94 and heart rate would vary from 145 to 195.
After three days on meds:
oxygen is 92 and heart rate is 38.
Is the heart rate TOO LOW?

Re: AFib meds and too low a rate?

I've measured it again and its now 95% oxygen and 105 beats per minute.

Don't know if these drugs are good or bad.

Re: AFib meds and too low a rate?

Hi - oxygen saturation at 92 and heart rate at 38 is pretty low. Oxygen at 95 is a little low and heart rate at 105 is a little high. There is a really big difference in the heart rate. Did you do anything to bring it up? You need to talk to a professional to get this straightened out. The too low numbers can cause problems with dizziness and tiredness - too high can cause problems also. Hopefully you can get your meds adjusted to find a middle ground. Good luck to you.

Bring it up?? Heart rate used to be 145-150 most often and would spike up to around 195, particularly upon exertion. So the meds brought the heart rate DOWN, not up.
