I have only posted here once, but I'm really hoping someone can help me.
I had a really scary visit to my doctor today. I noticed about a month ago that the ends of my thumbs were hurting and then I saw a small red line in my thumbnail.
I have Lyme Disease, so I chalked it up to another weird symptom because there are so many. The line went away and so did the pain. Then last week, I noticed it was back and my big toes were hurting and were red on the ends. Then I saw a line in the other thumb and forefinger.
When I told the doctor, he got a really scary look on his face and said the lines are splinter hemorrhages and they are usually from endocarditis. He has ordered a TEE, but no blood work.
I have not been able to speak with my Lyme doctor to see if it can cause the hemorrhages, but I did see that they can be caused by Chronic Fatigue also. These symptoms are very similar to Lyme.
I had an ECHO earlier this year which showed a mild valve regurg. I had a dental cleaning last fall and my gallbladder removed last June. I have been taking antibiotics for six months for the Lyme and just read that a systemic Candida infection can cause endocarditis also. I have learned that if it is fungal, it is not usually a good outcome.
So, needless to say, I am completely terrified. Can anyone help?
