Trouble since heart surgery, need advice

I had bypass surgery 5 weeks ago. Since then I have done pretty well. The only thing is I seem to be getting more discomfort in my chest and back as time goes on. I realize this is probably the muscles and nerves healing, but should it be getting worse?
I am on a channel calcium blocker, Norvasc 5 mg. and a beta blocker for high BP. I also take Vytorin for cholestorol 40/10. I do take glucotrol 7.5 mg. in the morning for diabetes. I try to space these different meds. out through the morning and evening, so as not to take them all together and get interactions. I still think they may be making me tired.
I have some pretty significant lower back pain too but have been bound up pretty bad in the stomach since the surgery.
I wonder if there is any way to resolve all these issues and still take my meds, and keep myself healthy.

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling that well, but having been there three times myself already, it's quite normal to feel like this at this stage, I mean, everything's still healing and it usually takes the sternum between 6 months to a year before you can safely say you feel 100%. Just make sure you don't overdo it though! Have you discussed it with your cardio yet? I've had three mitral valve replacements and I'm in line for my fourth. I hope you get better soon. Take care!

Re: Trouble since heart surgery, need advice

Deborah... I just saw my cardio today and told him all my woes but he just almost ignores me. I gather that it's OK then, just part of the healing process. He did sign me up for cardio rehab which he says will help me feel better. He stressed exercise also, on my own.
It just seemed like the aches and pains are getting worse, not better as I expected. Lots of back pain as well as around the sternum and shoulders.
I'll live through this though!
