Cardiac Catherization - Please Read !! - Heart Disorders Message Board

Hello - my father went in for a cardiac cath and then a follow-up visit a month later (last week) because they recommended triple bypass. They gave a cd that is supposed to contain the images of the catherization. He has asked me to take the CD to another cardiologist while he is out of town this week so he can look at it. When I placed the CD into my computer or DVD player it will not read anything. Does anyone know how I can read these files???? I assume they are images of the cath but I have not been able to read it yet.

The files listed on the CD are:

93kkw21
93kkw2p2

and others following this format.

Does anyone know how I can read them???

You need to take the cd to the other doctor as you were instructed to. You and your father may have question after reviewing the cd. The doctor may have a system to read the cd that you don't. Good luck on the surgery.

You can not read those files as they require special programs. You should not be trying to read them anyway. The Cardiologist will look at the disc and possibly show YOUR father what is on it and definatley will discuss the information that was found.

You state your computer reads CDs. It should bring up a screen that gives you a choice to what application wrote the data. Only readers of software that wrote the data are able to read same.

For instance Acrobat is a common application and most computers have the readers installed, if not you can download one free. It is a common application and the file extension is .pdf. You can try right clicking with your mouse on 93kkw21 and that could bring up screen showing "properties". Click on properties and that may give you the info that can help. The file extension tells you what app wrote the data.
