pvc's and dental work - Heart Disorders Message Board

I suffer from pvc's and am about to have some dental work done and im scared to death im going to get them while having the work done. Anything I should do?

If they have to numb you, just make sure you request that they use an epinephrine-free anesthetic. The epinephrine (adrenaline) in common dental anesthetics can cause racing heart/palpitations.

Otherwise, just warn your dentist that you get palpitations and agree on a hand signal that you'll use if you need him/her to stop for a minute until you feel better. It helps to feel like you are more in control of the situation.

Thank you Timber for the advice. I didnt mention it in my first post but I am also 18 weeks pregnant so I dont think they will use that kind of anesthetic anyway but I will definetly make sure!

Can your dental work wait until after delivery?? Make sure you check with your OBGYN before you do anything . I have pvc's too and I take Toprol XL 50 mg for it. Are you on any med (just curious) for it while pregnant??

What are you having done?

I also get PVCs and was diagnosed with SVT or IST (not sure which). I take (and did throughout my entire pregnancy) propranolol. It helped drastically. But I DO still get PVCs especially around my period. I wont get them for an entire week..and then a I can get them once an hour. It sucks doesnt it?? Yes, just make sure you stay away from all stimulants.
