chronic heart disease and elevation - Heart Disorders Message Board

my husband suffered a major heart attack 4 years ago. Back of his heart is gone. Has had two stents since heart attack due to continued blockages in arteries though his dr's label him the poster adult for hear disease as he is doing all the right things to stay healthy. Our son will be playing hockey in Colorado and someone mentioned to my husband that the elevation could affect him. We live in Massachusetts. My husband is 43, suffered his heart attack while playing ice hockey at the age of 39. No heart history. He will be checking with his dr., but, I'm scared because when they put a stent in a very narrow artery a year ago, his stress test still reveals a "blurp" or st segment depression and the dr's did not want to perform the invasive procedure of another angio. Let's wait and see...dont' like those words. My question is, has anyone heard of elevation being a factor with someone with heart disease? Thank you so much!

Elevation can be a factor in heart disease. Be sure that he gets up during flight and moves around because sitting in confined space for a long flight can put some people at risk for a stroke. I would talk to his doctor about other things he can do to make the flight safer.
