[QUOTE=livfortoday]I know i am spelling mitrol (wrong) value prolapse. My husband is only 40 and needs it to repaired but might need to be replace with a metal value . This is open heart surgery. Has anyone here have this done? Can you tell me about it thanks?[/QUOTE
In 2003 ,I had a quadruple bypass and mitral valve replacement..a st judes mechanical valve.
In hospital 7 days, 3 months basic rcoup, but aches and pains for at least a yr as chest settles. Coumadin daily for thinning so no clots on valve, some meds for afib which occur often after OHS..I have sever CAD,PVD..so in my case its a tad different, but most VR's feel much better.Oh and I was 46 at time of surgery. Hope this helps.Kemper]
