Amiodarone - Heart Disorders Message Board

Hi,

I have been put on amiodarone to control ventricular tachycardia, I also have A-fib and congenital heart disease. The amiodarone seems to have stopped the arrhythmias but I feel absolutely terrible. I feel totally down and depressed and I seem to keep crying all the time, I have nasty headaches with lots of pressure in my head. I am having trouble breathing and just feel awful - I can't really describe it but I don't feel right.
Has anyone else been on it and if so what side effects did you have, how did you feel?
I feel that no one understands how I feel but I've never felt so unhappy as I do now.

I was on this drug for 4 years,my dose was 400mg per day,I noticed a change in my facial color in about 6mo of starting this drug.I always felt like I was just not feeling right.It didn't do what the Drs wanted it to do so I was given an ablation 8mo. ago and taken off of it.Ive not had any shocks since and am doing a lot better.Its a nasty drug but sometimes they have to use it if thats the only choice.

Hi Biggie444,

Thanks for replying, I still feel awful, actually I feel like I am dying. I seem to get rid of one side effect and then get another, the latest one I have is I feel very sick, I haven't actually been sick but whenever I eat or drink anything I feel awful and also really weak probably because I'm not eating properly but the thought of eating makes me feel sick.

I cried down the phone to the hospital again and luckily I have an appointment on Friday so I am going to tell them how I am feeling and I hope they will take me off it. (please)
