| Re: Hmm Chest Pain
You didn't say how old you are, do you smoke, etc. I would suggest you go have it checked out. I know it's hard to go when you don't have health insurance...we hesitate to go and we DO have insurance, but it seems companies like to add all kinds of "rules" to trip you up and refuse to pay. Anyway, my husband had strange symptoms. No chest pain exactly. He said it felt like he had swallowed something and it was stuck. This would last a few minutes, then go away. He was pretty sure it was gas because later he would have burping and pass gas. It happened 2 times on a Tues, nothing on Wed, then 2 times on Thurs. On that Friday he decided to go to the doctor who sent him for a stress test. Long story short, he had a 90% blockage in his left coronary decending artery. If this would have blocked completely, he would have had a massive heart attack. They installed a stent and so far, he is doing great. What I want you to get out of this story is that my husband didn't think it was his heart, he thought he was having some time of digestive prob. It didn't feel at all like he though it would. He didn't have "crushing" chest pain or pain down his arm. His Cholestrol was 168 last year (he was taking Zetia because it has been over 200) and his blood pressure was very normal. He is only 48 years old. He has been a smoker for 30 years and the doctor said that is a major risk factor. He said that they could test almost anyone who smokes and find plaque in their arteries. Needless to say, my husband cold-turkeyed the cigarettes. We haven't gotten any of the bills yet (I'm dreading that!), so I can't tell you what anything cost, but I would at least go for a stress test if the doctor thinks it is needed. Good luck to you!
