Hmm Chest Pain

Just wondering, sometimes when i take a bite of harder food, ie Bagle or a larger than normal bite of food, when i swallow i get this pain on my right side of chest that lasts like 2 seconds and goes away. Just wondering if anyone has experianced that before and if it is caused by the way i eat, Thanks a mil!

Re: Hmm Chest Pain

I have had that before as well I am not sure of the answer, but im thinking it maybe has to do with the way the food was digested.I do not think it is anything to worry about though.I would say if the pain goes on even when you are not eating then maybe you should go to your doctor with it .

I also have a question...I do not mean to blow off the original poster by no means I just figued since this thread was made over chest pains id type about it here.I have had left arm pain (sharp, aching type pains) for a couple months now this pain comes and goes last about several seconds if that sometimes the pains can be like 1 second.I have also had this pain in my chest.I have been to the ER with this had echo, xrays, blood tests.all normal..(er doc said he doesnt think its my heart but hed like me to get a stress test which i cant) so..anyway,tonight I decided to have a few mixed drinks and then I got the same sharp pain (this pain is always mild) in my chest it isnt directly in the center of my chest it leans more towards the left side.anyway, the same time I had it in my chest it was also in my left arm (elbow to wrist area). This kind of took me back a bit,but I stayed calm and just let it go it lasted a few seconds.I do not have health insurance so I cannot afford to go to the ER or doctors over everything I feel.I also wanna add I noticed a good amount of gas built up in me after I felt these pains (I burped off and on afterwards) I know you are not doctors, but what you say?

Re: Hmm Chest Pain

You didn't say how old you are, do you smoke, etc. I would suggest you go have it checked out. I know it's hard to go when you don't have health insurance...we hesitate to go and we DO have insurance, but it seems companies like to add all kinds of "rules" to trip you up and refuse to pay. Anyway, my husband had strange symptoms. No chest pain exactly. He said it felt like he had swallowed something and it was stuck. This would last a few minutes, then go away. He was pretty sure it was gas because later he would have burping and pass gas. It happened 2 times on a Tues, nothing on Wed, then 2 times on Thurs. On that Friday he decided to go to the doctor who sent him for a stress test. Long story short, he had a 90% blockage in his left coronary decending artery. If this would have blocked completely, he would have had a massive heart attack. They installed a stent and so far, he is doing great. What I want you to get out of this story is that my husband didn't think it was his heart, he thought he was having some time of digestive prob. It didn't feel at all like he though it would. He didn't have "crushing" chest pain or pain down his arm. His Cholestrol was 168 last year (he was taking Zetia because it has been over 200) and his blood pressure was very normal. He is only 48 years old. He has been a smoker for 30 years and the doctor said that is a major risk factor. He said that they could test almost anyone who smokes and find plaque in their arteries. Needless to say, my husband cold-turkeyed the cigarettes. We haven't gotten any of the bills yet (I'm dreading that!), so I can't tell you what anything cost, but I would at least go for a stress test if the doctor thinks it is needed. Good luck to you!

Have you ever researched into a possible connection between your heart rhythm problems, your other pain symptoms and your kidney problems?
