Chest pain with hand numbness - Heart Disorders Message Board

I was wondering if anyone has had or know about this-- what does it mean if you have chest pain (mine last night was on my right side) and numbness in the hand (which was my right hand)? Should I be concerned? I have been having chest achiness and pressure since Nov. which I have told my doctors. Last night getting into our van the pain was much different-- it was kinda sharp and on the right side, not central like it usually is. I still have the pain this morning and it hurts worse when I take a deep breath or bend over. Last night on the way home my right hand was numb, but I didn't tell my husband. My hand is still very tingly this morning. In Dec. I was in the ER and they kept me 2 night for high platelets. They also did an EKG which was fine. Should I be concerned? Thanks!

It's almost always chest wall inflammation (costochondritis) if bending and deep breathing hurts (sometimes like Hell.) The numb right hand is caused by nerve root inflammation either at the site of entry into the spinal column or around the chest wall inflammation.
Alleve works to make it feel a bit better but it usually takes a couple weeks to resolve.

Take it easy, laze around for a couple days, but there's little reason to worry about your heart.

Sorry, it's me again. Do you think that I should mention this pain and numbness to my hemo on Thursday? I can't take Aleve... because I'm trying Celebrex for my foot. Thanks!

Sure,
It won't hurt to mention it.

The Celebrex should work on the chest wall as well.
