Hiccups on EKG and LVH - Heart Disorders Message Board

Hello All,
Can anyone tell me what they mean when they say you have "hiccups" on your EKG? Also if they find LVH on the echocardiogram would that explain the EKG abnormality?

I don't know about "hiccups", but LVH usually means Left Ventricular Hypertrophy--an enlarged left ventricle. That often shows up as something unusual on an ekg.

Hi Kathy,

An enlarged LV is an abnormal measurement distinquished with an EKG. "Hiccups" or (blips, as seen on a screen) are a series of minute variations. Probably double current produced in a heart muscle by a single impulse. May or may not be a rhythm problem, ...it is almost always benign, and it is not an unusual event.
