husband having angiogram-plasty - Heart Disorders Message Board

can anyone tell me what to anticipate -my husband is scheduled for angiogram possible angioplasty and stent and we haven't been given much info either how he will feel and what the recuperation will be. I have no clue if we should cancel vacation plns a couple of weeks from now? Will he be able to climb stairs? drive the car? any thing that you feel you can contribute i would greatly appreciate-any thing i should bring along to the hospital? help!! thank you

My husband had another stent put in when he had his second heart attack Memorial weekend. He will probably be in the hospital for a day or two. When he comes home, there will be no lifting for 7 days - but otherwise he should be okay. I don't know if he is currently taking medications, but I would think they would put him on Plavix, a beta blocker, baby aspirin and if he has high cholesterol, a statin. You should really ask the cardio about your vacation plans, but yes, he should beable to climb stairs and drive a car.

The vacation will be fine...perhaps swimming is a bad idea as his groin needs time to heal and you don't want an infection.

After two weeks I'd only council against running and lifting weights!

A vacation is the PERFECT idea for him.

thank you all for taking the time to help me out. The angiogram will be this tuedsay and no I don't know anything for sure! I do hope all goes well and I really appreciate you sharing and helping me get through this. Does anyone know if they put diabetics on plavix also? Is there a reason not to? anything else I should be forwarned about either before or during or after the procedure? thank you all again so much.

hi everyone. We're back home. My husband ended up having the angioplasty and three stents put in!!! His was a 90% blockage and we are grateful the doctors insisted on the angiogram even though the stress test was really quite inconclusive. He's thank g-d doing as well as can be expected and i thank you for helping me get through the process.
