Beta blockers and magnesium?

Ive been having really bad palpatations since i was 16, im now 31. Skipping, fluttering and the worst is when your heart goes completely crazy for 3 secs, then returns back to normal. My doctor has put me on Propranolo 10mg three times a day but ive been taking them fo so long there not doing there job anymore. I used to take Magnesium which i found to be amazing so i would like to start taking that as well but i dont know if the two combined is safe. Do you know?

Re: Beta blockers and magnesium?

Yes,
It is perfectly safe to take magnesium with a beta-blocker. What made you STOP taking the Mg?

Your dosage of 10 mg. X 3 is a very small dose of propranolol so if you need more, there should be no problem with 20 x 3 unless your BP goes too low with it.

Perhaps, with a little bit of luck you can take the magnesium and lose the propranolol?

Re: Beta blockers and magnesium?

Thanks Lenin, im so happy to hear that. I stopped taking magnesium because i couldnt stand the taste (i had the liquid). Im useless at taking tablets unless there tiny and the mag ones were very big, but im so desperate now that i just have to be brave and swollow them. I dont really want my propranolol increased because im thinking, how high will it go? What i mean by that is, ive only been on 10mg for two years and they've stopped working, what happens when the next increased dose stops working? Will i have to up them again? When will it end?!
