My stress test had a few steps to complete. There was a pretest that evaluates one's cardio vascular system at rest with an EKG for heart rate, rhythm, etc.
With an injection of an identifiable substance it is traced as it is distributed through the heart tissues while exercising. The objective is to observe any vessel blockage, poor circulation, etc. When the the test is completed or stopped there is an observation how quickly one's vascular system returns to normal while resting.
It is a good test for cardiovascular blockage that may be causing pain, shortness of breath, etc. It could help dx a rhythm disorder if an episode happens during the test.
