I'm a 43 year old male who had minimally invasive open heart surgery in June to close a large atrial septal defect. Though minimally invasive, I was still on the bypass machine for about 20 minutes. My main concern 4 months after surgery is that I still feel disoriented, foggy, or hazy all the time. I haven't had anyone in the medical community justify or acknowledge this as a problem related to the surgey, but I have had a couple of open heart patients tell me they felt the same way for about 6 months after surgery. Has anyone out there felt this way, or should I be looking at a different problem? My doctors seem to think it's from depression. Thanks.
