Heart / chest pain when inhaling - Heart Disorders Message Board

Hello

recently, when i take in big deep breaths, i get a little 'pain' in the left side of my chest.

its not a major pain, i just feel it, like the feeling of a nip or something, and i get really worried.

anyone kno what it is or what should i do?

It doesn't sound serious but excluding a broken rib, chest pain with deep breathing could be the following, worst case scenarios:

Pleurisy (inflammation of the membrane that surrounds the heart) usually accompanied by a fever and shortness of breath.

Pericarditis (inflammation of the membrane surrounding the heart) also there should be a fever.

Pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lung) and that would be accompanied with shortness of breath.

Costchondritis inflammation of the connecting, tendons, muscle of the rib cage. More than likely you may have strained a muscle, or connecting tissue in the left area of the rib cage.

It could be a residual inflammation of bronchia as well. In such a case, you may like to try a couple of doses of Bryonia 30c. Bryonia 30c is a herbal homeopathic remedy whch has been used effectively in such stitching pains in chest on inhaling. It just might help

I find it's almost always caused by inflammation of the chest wall caused by some small injury to one of the myriad rib tendons.
ALLEVE works well for me...one every 6 hours.

HEart pain is very rarely made worse with a deep breath.

Pleurisy is an inflammation of the PLEURA, the lining of the LUNGS. I had it ONCE and the pain of a deep breath was administered by Beelzebub himself!
