| Re: Co-enzyme Q10
As, lolasmom, states it is beneficial for cell maintenance, and as I remember years ago there were favorable results for the chemical as an assist to treatment of cancer (especially recognized in breast cancer) post operatively. For cancer patients it enhances the immune system by protecting cells from free radicals (chemical produced when molecules split) that can damage parts of the cell (i.e. DNA or lipids).
It is a chemical compound produced naturally by the body but certain drugs that lower cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. can decrease the efficacy of the chemical. Consequently, taking the supplement when on chol and BP lower regimen, may be a wise choice if vulnerable to breat cancer, etc., but I don't know of any direct effect to the heart specifically?
