The septum is a wall between atrium chambers and the two ventricle chambers. If the wall is extremely weak, an aneurysm (bulge) could burst. That would require surgery and the treatment is sewing a special material patch over the defected area. Usually it carries very little risk, but if there has been a heart attack it can make the septal muscle so weak it cannot hold the stetches and there would be a higher risk. Worst case scenario.
A weak wall will effect the strength of contractions and pressures can build up to cause pulmonary hypertension. Over a period of time weak contractions can enlarge the heart and cause heart failure.
Or the wall motion with a defective septum is insignificant and only requires watching.
