45yr Old But Heart Scan Says Heart Of A 75 Yr Old Man, Please Help Me!!!

Last Week My Husband Had A Heart Scan Done Because Of Symptoms He's Had For About 2 Years That We Were Always Told Was From His Gerd. Doc Said Wanted His Calcium Score To Be Below 50 And His Score Was 259. Doc Also Said He Has Moderate Blockages In All 3 Main Arteries Of His Heart And He Has The Heart Of A 75 Yr Old Man.
We Then Visited A Cardio Who Has Scheduled A Cardiolite Stress Tomorrow. And As You Can See I'm Up Because I;m Worried And Can't Sleep.

Need Knowledge About The Accuracy Of These Heart Scans! Is My Husband Doomed For Heart Surgery?

Any Advice Would Be So Much Appreciated!!!!

Hi,

For moderate (if accurate) blockage blockage, it can be corrected with stents. The interventional procedure is painless and will not be debilating; up and out in the matter hours or a day at most. Usually blockage less than 70% is not stented but watched.

There is a probability (about 10%) the scan is not accurate due to artefacts. You can keyword artefact or artifact on this forum or ****** artefact, scan. On a previous post a submitted on that subject. The remark bad arteries are similar to a 75 year old is so ambiquous it is meaningless.

Re: 45yr Old But Heart Scan Says Heart Of A 75 Yr Old Man, Please Help Me!!!

My husband had the cardiolite stress test and ultrasound test today. He got through the test fine and the nurses said it looked good and they didn't see anything to tell him he had the heart of a 75 yr old man. But of course will have to wait for test results from cardiologist on Wednesday.

Thanks so much for your reply, it really helped me alot!!!!

Praying for good results on Wednesday.

lisa,

The reason insurance companies don;t pay for these calcium heart scans is that they have FAR too many false positives. I would never waste my money on one.
The test to believe is the nuclear stress test (Cardiolite.)

Let us know on Wednesday what the final results are.

Does your husband usually have chest discomfort or pain with hard exercise?

Is ur husband active? If not he needs to start. you can reverse artery disease but it takes giving up alot. Like not eating any meats at all or milk cheese anything like that.Straight veggie, fruit foods like that. And exersieing which is just important.
