| Re: What does statin body pains feel like to you?
Lutheran:
Some of the side effects of zetia listed include chest pain, stomach pain and muscle pain. As with any statin intake, you have to get your liver function checked to make sure everything is okay. In addition, some of the symptoms of GERD also include chest pain and stomach pain. Nausea and stomach pain are also listed as side effects of toprol. Also, If you are taking any NSAID's for pain, that might further exacerbate the problem. Any or all of these can be the cause of your pain.
Another factor might be if you are eating lots of high fiber foods to lower your cholesterol and you have not allowed your system to adjust to the high fiber intake gradually, that will definitely cause intestinal issues. Those intestinal pains/cramps can indeed be very painful and combined with the GERD that you have will make you feel like you are about to explode and the pain will not be confined to just your gut area but it will involve your whole GI tract and thus the chest area as well. With the higher intake of fibrous foods, you need to make sure you are drinking enough water. Juices and carbonated drinks make things worse. Find out by process of elimination which foods trigger these symptoms. Dairy products, beans and the cabbage-family foods are some of the worst offenders. The flip side of this coin, might be that you are not eating enough fiber in you diet and thus you are having a problem with elimination. So you really have to know your body and find out what works for you and stick with it.
If the pain persists, don't wait for an appointment and go to the ER as soon as possible because persistent intestinal pain that does not resolve could be a sign of blockage which has to be taken care of immediately. Good luck
