Anyone else experience this that can help? (long)
Hello, I'm a 22 year old male with some worries on his mind. I am a slim build and have never really had any problems with my heart. A year ago I started working out (lifting weights) and I work outside so I get enough physical activity. Less than a year ago I got a dull pain, which was sometimes slightly sharp, in the left of my chest. Near my heart, around my heart, sometimes extending slightly to my shoulder, and varying places. It would come and go and finally I decided to get it checked out.
My blood pressure was fine, I got an ECG done and it came out fine and the Dr. wasn't worried in the slightest due to my age and physical condition. Sure enough it went away, returned once in a while, sometimes I would even do my workout when I felt this way and it didn't worsen. I was drinking protein shakes or stuff like it and stopped drinking those because they were disgusting and they really weren't making a difference. Other than that my diet isn't the best but like I said I am almost 6'1 and weigh 165 lbs.
At the beginning of April I started my summer job, working outside as maintenance at a concert venue. My allergies can get bad (sneezing a whole lot during the day, itchy eyes, itchy throat, cough, etc.) and I have my good days and my bad days with symptoms. One day we used powerwashers to clean, which kicks up particles of dirt I'm assuming and I would wake up late that night with trouble breathing and wheezing. During exercise I would get out of breath slightly quicker than when I was younger but nothing alarming and after a few minutes of rest I was back to normal.
Now back to the chest pain. Sometimes I would get my pain again but it felt more like I did it during workout and needed rest. Well Friday I was fine and then I got the irritation and didn't feel right. My heart rate was a little accelerated and I felt a little weak. I didn't work out at all since and went to the doctor's on Monday. Come Monday I felt fine but it slowly started to act up. Blood pressure: great. I told him where it hurt and he said if it was a heart problem I'd have dull pain from shoulder to shoulder, jaw, hands, sweating, nausea, etc. He pointed to places and asked if it hurt but I explained it wasn't any part of my skin or muscle that was tender to the touch. He was confident yet again, and gave me a prescription for an inhaler for when I have breathing problems, as for the chest pains said it could be muscle and that I could go back to exercising.
Come today, my left side still feels a little weaker and it seems I don't have to do much to get my heart going faster. I want to work out but I am afraid, but is it just stress or anxiety causing this? Is it reflux mistaken for heart trouble? Someone help please.
